What's an English Chick?
My online nickname has been "Joan the English Chick" since sometime in early 1993. It's because I was an English (literature) major in college. I took the nickname as an homage to Katherine the Art Chick, my Evil Twin. (Guess what her major was?)
People sometimes assume that "the English Chick" means I am from England. Alas, this is not the case. I am just another silly American who majored in English and now feels qualified to correct your grammar. ;-)
Family and Environment
I was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and grew up in nearby Cambridge. My
mom, a research nurse, still lives in the apartment where I grew up. She
moved in there before I was born, and now she lives there by herself. Our cat Toes died in June 1999 at the ripe old age
of 20. :-( My mom now has two new cats, and I currently live in
Somerville,
MA, with my two kids and our cat, Grover.
For a while there, I
was living with Katherine the Art Chick (see above) and her five cats. Click here for lots and lots of kitty pictures.
My brother, Bart, is about three years younger than me. I could tell you all about him, but you might as well figure it out from his webpage.
