When I was in high school I became interested in the Shakespearean sonnet form, and I wrote five sonnets. A few years later, I wrote a fifth. If you read them in order, you get the sense that I was kind of manic-depressive: one sonnet about death follows another about how beautiful summertime is. I wasn't manic-depressive, really. I was just an adolescent.
